Junior Bunk beds

Bye-bye crib and toddler bed!!! Our kids will share a room for a minute because we love having a guest room and our office space. They now have what is called a junior bunk bed...much shorter than a standard bunk bed, but still with twin mattresses. They love it. We had to get new mattresses, sheets and accessories to coordinate with her pink and chocolate theme and his blue and chocolate theme, so we had big fun wearing ourselves out to create a cool space for them. And of course we streamlined their toys, and all the toys and stuff of theirs that was trying to invade the den and our bedroom...kind of driving us coo coo. They love their new little digs and so do we.

King Quadson

A year ago we were asked to assist with the raising of monies for college-bound kid's scholarships in the area where Monique is from. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recognized Quadson as the King for raising the most money (@ $2500.00) out of the males. He was first recognized at a Kiddie Contest affair on the estate of an area millionaire and the other part of his duties was to represent the sorority on their float in two parades during Mardi Gras in New Roads. New Roads hosts the 2nd largest Mardi Gras parades in Louisiana following New Orleans, of course.

Quadson was the youngest. All the other kids were 8 years old. Besides the king and queen, there were 2 princes and 3 princesses.

The organizers of the kids' float decided to forfeit having the kids throw beads, a Mardi Gras tradition. BIG MISTAKE! Folks were brutal. Monique and I, along with two other sorors, walked alongside the float the entire 1st parade and were shocked at what grown adults were saying to these kids over not throwing plastic beads. For the second parade, our driver secured some beads and the kids were ready to not be mobbed by the 90,000 attendees. It was more fun for them as well. The beads made them more engaged and excited, versus those sad little waves as people yelled, "Y'all ain't got nothing for us?!!"

After parade #2, Quadson fell out...totally exhausted.

Leslie joined us at the end of the second parade. She stole the show!!
